The food was lovely, actually so nice and the cake we had was delicious. Unfortunately though I ordered a tea and instantly I noticed how dirty it was. It was a shame as everything else was nicer. We were tucked around the corner so table service / clearing could have been better. Had to wait longer than expected to have plates taken off our table. Other than that a nice place, lovely decor.

Great place for coffee and cake, have now visited a few times now. Benedict Royale was lovely, and pancakes with ample maple syrup.Will be going again soon

An absolutely delightful café: every time I have been over the last month, the food has been delicious, the service friendly, helpful and efficient and the atmosphere lovely. Our most recent visit involved a large group of us and, despite not taking formal reservations (it is a well sized café so generally this is not a problem) the lovely manager Gavin, made space for us and personally made sure we were all seated and comfortable. I have sampled the vegetarian meze, falafels and the breakfast pancakes and all were amazing. The flavours packed into the meze and falafels were just outstanding and worthy of a restaurant with a far higher price tag. The outside garden is under constant development with seating and veg beds that will eventually provide all the produce needs of the café. Dogs are welcome, the tea delicious - not a teabag in sight! And the welcome warm and friendly.

Money has definitely been spent on this place, even paper on your plate has their logo on it. This is more evident from the prices of things, £6 for a slice of cake is way too much for me. There was a huge queue when we left and we had to wait 15 minutes for a table despite seeing several empty ones. We counted 8 waitress' milling around although you still have to go to the counter to order yourself. We also felt rushed as they tried to take our plates before we had finished. They allow dogs in so the atmosphere was unpleasant as one wouldn't stop yapping, not great if you're allergic. 99% of diners were older people or unemployed women with small children throwing food on the floor. It was also quite noisy as it is a large room. Food was very nice despite the cost, however there was no sugar for drinks on your table, had to wait for a waitress to find some. The food also came out well before our drinks did. Will not go again, would rather spend money in tea on the green in Danbury where you will get better service and equally nice food a little cheaper.

The Tin Roof cafeteria , the latest iteration by a restauranteur with a string of successes in around the local area over many years. The location is fantastic, set in an established garden centre. Welcoming you is a spacious car park overlooking the single storey you guessed it ‘Tin roof cafeteria’. There is a large undercover outside seating area as well as an outside seating area with views of the garden but even better is the beautiful, thoughtfully decorated interior. Amazing colour palette and yes REAL plants. Food is as you would expect is excellent using high quality local produce. Service is excellent with both the owner and his partner very hands on, busy waiting table and casting an experienced eye on all that was going on but in an understated but still present manner. Only one small criticism, and this appears to be a serial offence they have not quite grasped getting the drinks to table before or with the food so I guess take a flask? However an absolute must to visit.

Been a couple times now. Great service, really friendly waiters and considering the amount of people in there the service is pretty quick and efficient. The food is good, nice selection and good local ingredients sourced. Nothing spectacular though, as you’d expect for really reasonable prices. The showstopper is the cake though, the apple crumble cake which I had was outstanding. Never had a cake like it! Shakshuka was very nice but the focaccia was way too dense and chewy, borderline stale. Seasonal salad was fresh and unique but lacking in flavour, little to no dressing. I’m not keen on the layout, tables of two lined up leaves very little privacy and when busy can get loud/echoey. I also hope their is air on for summer as it’s a bit like a greenhouse in there! Outdoor seating is gorgeous, it’s like your in another country! Will definitely be sitting there next week! There’s also no service payment. To reiterate the cakes are amazing! All homemade! Outstanding!

FAB place, well worth a visit for the cakes alone! We had lunch on a busy weekday (waited 25 mins for a table - but there was 8 of us and seating area to wait). Great menu, with loads to choose from, but what steals the show here is the variety of cakes on offer. Literally something for even the fussiest of people! Service was disjointed and one waitress came and cleared the table without even cracking a smile, let alone a word. Thankfully the flavours and quality of the food (and coffee) will mean a return is definitely on the cards. If you're not willing to wait, this isn't the place for you. Otherwise, go and enjoy!

Expected a normal cafe, but was blown away! The interior is a lovely mix of modern, traditional, and homely. The food was very tasty, and quite reasonably priced. The coffees were great, and substituting different milks was easy and no trouble at all! (The deserts were also delicious!)

Lovely location, this cafe was very busy with a 40min wait, however, we were offered outside and took them up on it, so worth it, fully undercover and felt lovely out there. We arrived at lunchtime and was advised of the wait, all staff members were very friendly and a pleasure to talk with. The menu was limited especially around sandwiches but I believe this was due to it being a weekend menu, however, something to think about when visiting. Pricing was high side of average but cakes a food were very much worth the cost, a wonderful choice and tasted amazing. 1 star reduction as they could do with a better waiting system, such as a buzzer system to advise when tables are free rather than wandering and coming back. There is a seating area for waiting but this is limited. Everywhere was clean including the toilets, car park is nice and big with plenty of spaces. Recommended for a lovely lunch and cake choice.

We have been twice now since they opened a week ago!! Amazing place, decor is beautiful, food is gorgeous well cooked and clearly high quality produce used. Staff are all very friendly and welcoming. If it’s this good already in their first week I’m sure it is going to be the place to go in maldon/surrounding areas. Well done Spin & Vicki another great venture!
